About the Cytogenetics LaboratoryThe Cytogenetics Laboratory at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) provides comprehensive diagnostic testing and expert analysis for chromosomal abnormalities in hematologic malignancies, constitutional disorders, and solid tumors. Our laboratory integrates advanced cytogenetic and molecular techniques to support precision diagnosis, prognostication, and clinical decision-making.
We specialize in both conventional and molecular cytogenetics, including karyotyping, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), and genomic technologies. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality, clinically actionable results with rapid turnaround times, supporting physicians, researchers, and patients.
Clinical ExpertiseOur laboratory supports a wide range of clinical services, including:
  • Hematologic malignancies (leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma)
  • Constitutional cytogenetic disorders
  • Prenatal and postnatal chromosome analysis
  • Solid tumor cytogenetics (selected applications)
  • Targeted FISH panels for diagnostic and prognostic markers
